Your Visit

Please contact us at 301.668.1600 to pre-register prior to the date of your procedure.

On the day of your procedure, please bring your insurance card(s), a photo identification, your completed Court Endoscopy Center forms, and if required by your insurance, a referral for services for your procedure appointment. Bringing your completed forms will assist us in staying on time for your procedure. If you need to complete your forms when you arrive, your procedure may be delayed or canceled

If you are a patient of Dr. Rifkin or Dr. Kane, you can fill out the forms for the center in the secure Patient Portal. If you are a patient of Dr. Miller, OR if you prefer, you can access the Court Endoscopy Center forms through the Patient Resources tab, print, complete and bring with you to your procedure.

Because sedation is usually given for procedures, you MUST bring a responsible driver (at least 18 years old) with you, to take you home after the procedure.  Your driver must remain at the center during the procedure.  If your driver cannot remain during your procedure, please contact CEC at least three business days prior to your procedure regarding possible alternative arrangements.

We do ask that you refrain from bringing children to the center.

Preparation

Do not eat or drink the night before your procedure!

Follow in detail the preparation instructions provided to you by your gastroenterologist, which have been specifically designed to address your health issues and medications.

Plan to arrive at the center 45 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete any pre-procedure paperwork and for staff to begin the pre-op necessary for your procedure.

When you scheduled your procedure, you should have notified your physician if you are on blood thinners such as Coumadin, Plavix, etc., as well as if you have a pacemaker, internal defibrillator, or have a latex allergy.  You should have stopped taking aspirin or nonsteroidal medication (such as Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc.) as instructed by your physician one week prior to your procedure.

If you have not notified your physician of the medications or medical conditions listed above, please call your gastroenterologist's office immediately.  The office of Dr. Rifkin and Dr. Kane can be reached at 301.663.9440.  The office of Dr. Miller can be reached at 301.695.7000.

Please note that CEC is not a latex -free facility.

Billing and Insurance

CEC accepts the same insurance plans as your gastroenterologist.  If you have questions, please call the center at 301.668.1600.

It is important to understand that there are four different entities involved in your procedure.  Each entity covers a different part of the process.  The entities are (1) the doctor who performed your procedure; (2) the facility where your procedure was performed; (3) the anesthesiologist; and (4) if you have biopsies taken, the laboratory where the biopsies were sent for testing.

Please help us to help you by understanding the extent of your insurance coverage.  Payments are determined by your insurance carrier based on your plan, and not by the endoscopy center or your gastroenterologist. Call your insurance company or the business office if you have questions.

We will soon be offering on-line bill pay for CEC procedures, for your convenience.
